Karen Noy

My name is Karen and I am Chair of the staff Disability and Long term condition network. Qualifying as a nurse and attending my graduation was the proudest moment of my life. I started my journey with the Dudley group back in 1995 in Elective Orthopaedics and the draw to work in what was then accident and emergency never left me. I was supposed to work there for a year to see if I liked it. It stole my heart. I was supported to do my Bachelor of Science Honours degree and training in advanced life support. In 2015 I received the shattering news that I had stage 3 gastro-oesophageal cancer that had spread to lymph nodes. I have been supported through my journey by some of the most amazing people. I have learned a lot about hidden disabilities and reasonable adjustments and having to adapt to different circumstances. We are all on a journey and fighting a battle that no one else knows anything about.
